Sleep eludes us at different stages of life, and one of the most stressful times for women is perimenopause, that transitional period leading to menopause. It’s like a non-stop hormonally-induced disco that spikes and dips at all the wrong times, leaving you not only with hot flashes in the day but hot sweats at night when all you want is a decent night’s sleep. Here, I want to share the Simba Hybrid mattress and how, in my opinion, it is a game-changer for perimenopausal sleep!

Perimenopausal Sleep Issues
Sleep is so important and as we enter perimenopause (usually in our 40s but sometimes earlier), it’s often in short supply. Why? Blame the fluctuating levels of oestrogen and progesterone; these two hormones together seem to go out of their way to make life difficult!
Changes in Sleep Patterns
Your hormones can cause you to wake up in the middle of the night or find it hard to fall asleep or in my case, a bit of both. Add to this the increased likelihood of disorders such as sleep apnea, and you’ve got the perfect recipe for a restless night. It all seems to come at a time when life is stressful too, why is it we are hardwired to hit these years at a similar time to having teenage kids with the hormones and stress they bring?

Choosing the Right Mattress
A mattress can be your best friend or your worst enemy. For perimenopausal women, it’s crucial to have one that supports your aching back and restless bones but also keeps you cool when you are having hot flashes.
Importance of Mattress Firmness and Support
Aim for a mattress that’s not too soft, not too firm, but just right, Goldilocks. Medium-firm mattresses are usually ideal for offering the necessary support, especially if you suffer from a lot of aches and pains as your body is changing.
Considerations for Temperature Regulation
Do you sweat more now that you are in Perimenopause? I know I do, and it is so frustrating! Temperature regulation at night is key to preventing night sweats from keeping you up and ruining that night’s sleep you deserve. Materials that wick away moisture and prevent heat retention keep you cool when needed could be a true godsend so don’t overlook this when looking for a mattress.

My Simba Hybrid Review
We were sent a Simba Hybrid Mattress to try out in return for a review to share it with you and in summary I can say I absolutely love it. That said I think you probably would like more about how we felt sleeping on the mattress, the delivery and the quality so read on for more about our experiences with Simba.

Simba Hybrid Delivery and Unboxing
The mattress is delivered by AO, who partner with Simba for deliveries. This is the second Simba Mattress we have, and I can honestly say that both times, the delivery drivers have been friendly and helpful. They take the mattress to the room of your choice, and if you have added removal of your old mattress to your order they can also collect your old mattress at the same time. We had the new mattress taken to our bedroom, which is handy as it is so heavy, and I wouldn’t have been able to get it upstairs myself otherwise.

The mattress arrived boxed and vacuum-packed. Opening it is simple, with easy-to-follow instructions on where to cut the plastic to avoid cutting the mattress itself. When it is open, it is easy to line it up approximately where you need it on your bed and then finish unwrapping it so that the mattress expands and reforms as it opens up.

Within about 30 minutes, the mattress had most of its shape and looked as if it could be slept on; however, the advice was to leave it for 6 hours to take shape completely. Our mattress was delivered at around 10 am so we had plenty of time before bed to do this.

Sleeping on the Simba Hybrid for the first time
Our first night sleeping on the Simba Hybrid was strange as it is such a different mattress to the sprung mattress we were used to. That said, we were soon comfortable and relaxed and slept well which is what matters.
After a few night’s sleep in, we decided we were definitely happy with the Simba Hybrid, and I can honestly say my night sweats have felt more improved and under control, and I wake less in the night due to them. This could, of course, be a hormonal change and be temporary, but I am hoping it is thanks to the mattress.
If you are unsure if it is the mattress for you they do have a 200-night trial so that is worth remembering too.
Our overall thoughts
We absolutely love our new Simba Hybrid mattress and our son also has one and he loves his too. It is easy to see why they are such bestsellers and they are extremely comfortable. If you are considering a mattress, it is definitely one I would recommend considering if you can afford it, and in my opinion, you won’t regret it.
We also have Simba pillows and a Simba Hybrid duvet and sleeping with all together is a dream, quite literally!

Value for Money
It is easy to think of the Simba Hybrid mattress as an expensive choice and spend significantly less on a cheap sprung mattress. Of course, if that is all you can afford then you will be just fine and it is better to have a mattress than not so I don’t want anyone reading this to feel that they are struggling just because they can not afford a Simba Hybrid. That said, if you can afford one I would highly recommend it. There are often savings around bank holidays, too, with a current Easter saving of 25%, so do keep an eye out if you are not in a rush.
Whilst the superking mattress we have is £1049 without any offers, which seems a lot, it must be remembered that it comes with a 10-year guarantee. If you sum up the cost of that good night’s sleep for 10 years, it works out at just under 29p a day! So really, it isn’t a bad cost at all; it is just the outlay of buying it and whether you can afford it.

Think i need to invest in one of these,i’m perimenopause and sleeping has got poor for me
